Hey y'all I'm Rachael!
I've always had this crazy calling to be where I wasn't... I mean an insane calling to just go. Hop in my car, drive without a destination, see the world, wander beyond the no tresspass sign... all of it. I just wanted to see new places, new people, and a new me. As I traveled I realized I was learning more about cultures and more about myself. I was expanding my comfort zones by entering others'.
Two days off meant "day trips" 8 hours away, because "I can sleep when I'm dead," or more realistically, I'll pass a parking lot somewhere I can sleep in my car and drive when it's safe again. My friends and family all thought I was kidding... and then that I was crazy, which I guess in many ways I am, because I fully believe travel is possible.
A year ago I traded my 2006 gas-guzzler of a SUV for a Pruis. I was heart broken to get rid of Cali (the name of my SUV). We'd traveled so many places together. We'd taken so many friends on road trips, we'd sing the same songs over and over again because the CD player would occasionally get stuck. I wasn't ready to move on, Cali was my first car, and I completely paid her off! That's a huge accomplishment in a girl's life. But then it finally happened... I had no choice but to move on.
I knew I wanted a Toyota. My dad has always had one, and eventually he and my mom got matching Corollas. I had decided on a Camry or, dare I say it, a Prius. I had made fun of these cars so many times, but after spending over $500 a month on gas (I traveled a lot, but that's ridiculous), I knew I wanted a fuel efficient car. So I found a Prius for sale, and I REFUSED to test drive it, I made my dad do it. Even he was surprised at how well it drove "for a Prius." We didn't buy that one, the dealership kept playing games, so I found another even closer to home.
I bought my lovely silver Prius on January 6, 2019. His name is DeMarcus (I'll explain that at some point). Well one year and over 30,000 miles later, I finally decided to start a blog to talk about our adventures. So buckle up, throw on some jamz, and enjoy the ride with me.
